    Memorial Plaques

Our slate plaques are sourced from quarries in north Wales. Welsh slate is well renowned for its quality and lasting properties.
Our sandstone plaques are sourced locally. Sandstone is harder than slate, also very long lasting.

    Slate or stone?
Slate and sandstone memorial plaques are ideal for laying down on the ground or leaning against a tree. They can be drilled for wall mounting also, or resin fixed if non visible fixing are required.

    The Material (slate)
They are irregular in shape with natural rough edges. The slate face is riven (when the slate is split it reveals a “grain” a bit like wood) and usually 15mm to 20mm thick, often thicker. The lighter stone (sandstone) is chisel edged and brushed to soften the jags. The slate is handpicked for quality and shape.

    The Material (sandstone)

The plaques are irregular so no two can be alike. Sandstone is lighter in colour than slate and we wanted to be able to offer a wider range of choice in this area so we tried all manner of stone to find something that was workable, practical and sustainable (lots of previous stone suplies dried up meaning we had to change the website again and again). We setteld with the two types of sandstone that you see in the examples.

    Personalising the memorial plaque
We engrave the text that is required into the face and then paint with a colour of your choice. Images can be included also, whether it may be your own image or one of our stock images. We offer lots of lettering styles so that we can create a truly unique plaque to reflect the uniqueness of the person of whom it marks their passing.
