Stone
When I first launched this web site I didn't know much about stone apart
from what i was working on, which was the slate signs Learning
Stone, a forum I happened on when rusticstone was only a month
or two old, has been a wealth of information. Topics range from what tools
to use to what quarries to obtain certain stone from. I myself learned
how to cleave certain stones. If you were to ask the question of where
you could obtain just about any type of stone in the world, the chances
are that someone from the Learning Stone list would not only be able to
tell you where to get it, but give you the quarry telephone number, along
with the foreman's name which door on the left is his. It originally started
as the Portland Sculpture and Quarry Trust in the UK, who's aim was or
is to regenerate the quarry landscape and preserve traditional skills
of stone workers. The list has grown and grown. The learning Stone archives
are a wealth of knowledge as well. Now that they have been revamped and
updated, it's much more navigable so you can easily find the information
that you seek.
