I’ve just arrived home from my short break in the Lake District to find your slate waiting for me. Jeff hadn’t opened it because he was respectfully waiting for my return, bless him. How about that for respect?
Well, dear friend and kindred spirit, we opened it together, and the pair of us simply dissolved into tears the moment your work came into view. It is simply beyond beautiful and it’s everything I was hoping to give to Jeff by way of a thank you and to say “I understand” what this place in the country is to him. We recently lost Jeff’s Mum, his best friend and his beloved dog, Holly, closely followed by 13 more losses of our nearests and dearest family, so the whole ethos of our new Lakeland home is about finding him (and me too) a quiet, serene place where he/we can recover. Your stone says everything..simply everything. Most especially, it says, please understand. Please give us some space. Please respect our need for peace and we’ll be with you as soon as we can. How did you manage that, Jeremy, without me ever telling you in any detail? God bless you. You’ve done something here that only an artist’s heart could ever achieve. You listened to the quiet still voice inside; the whisper in your heart and acted upon it.
I ran upstairs to write to you but now I’m finding myself utterly stuck for words and that’s saying something because writing is my craft and trade.
Jeremy, I simply don’t know what to say to you by way of thanks. You did indeed put your heart and soul into what you have created for us here and I feel so glad I trusted your artistry and let you loose to follow your heart because, boy, did you! When I asked you to work from your heart, I could not possibly have expected that you would get it so right, yet instinctively I knew I could trust you without doubt. This wasn’t an “ordinary” job and I knew from your examples on the website that you were no “ordinary” artist. I just didn’t want to burden you with the ins and outs of it all. Yet somehow you just knew. Do I take it then that your soul was listening to mine? Yes. 100% yes!
Jeff wants you to know that somehow you’ve re-visited for him St. Ninian’s Cross and St. Aidan’s Cross – both of which have huge significance for him so I have to take it that his angels talked to my angels who in turn talked to your angels who talked directly to you, and somehow you’ve then got it completely right – beyond right. I don’t know quite how such things happen but I’ve long trusted that they do.
I’m so sorry that you have had to wait for this response because of my absence. Under different circumstances, you’d have been replied to immediately so please forgive the delay.
Paying you a small monetary sum I hope helps recognise the earth bound side of things. But please know that there is no amount of money, no expression of thanks and no email that could ever express to you what your beautiful, divine work of art has meant in this house today and for a very long time in the future.
Can I just tell you that your stone has been washed with our tears but they were tears of joy because if there’s one thing we are it’s artists and the first thing we ever do is recognise other artists along the way.
Please reply to this email just so I know that you’ve received it and that you feel the warmth of our love, thanks, joy and peacefulness in what you have created for us here.

You’ve spoken soul to soul, heart to heart in way the finest poet could ever could dream of doing. So let’s just call it “poetry in stone”, shall we? How does that feel to you?

We lost our faithful, loving corgi, Teddy, in February 2008. That was easily the worst day of our lives. The pain was intensely raw for weeks after. Once we had his ashes returned to us, we wanted a place in our garden for them, and a fitting memorial stone for our beloved dog.
We found Jeremy’s website, rusticstone.net, and liked what we saw. We emailed and telephoned Jeremy: we found him charming, sympathetic and infinitely patient. We ordered a stone, Jeremy sent us a photo, we liked it, confirmed our order and awaited delivery. The parcel arrived, beautifully wrapped, but to our concern the plaque wasn’t quite right. It was nobody’s fault, but we agonised for days – should we contact Jeremy? In the end, we did. Again he was nothing but charming, sympathetic and infinitely patient. We talked and agreed a solution.
A second stone duly arrived. And it is perfect! I’m writing this in November 2009. We still haven’t been able to put Teddy’s ashes to rest, but his memorial stone is beautiful and will serve its purpose magnificently when the time comes. I’m guessing Jeremy spends much of his time talking to emotionally-charged clients who have suffered deep distress. Be assured – with Jeremy of rusticstone.net, you are in safe hands.

Tabatha, my loving puss cat for 18.5 years passed away recently. We have a corner in the garden where in the spring I will add to the heather’s already planted there above her. Hi – sorry for the delay – I have been meaning to leave this message for you since we took delivery of the beautiful headstone dedicated to our much loved dog, Jaffa. I had wanted to contact you before to say a big thank you for the slate sign that you despatched before Christmas but things have run away with me.
The sign is fantastic and my wife was thrilled. I’ve got to say that the quality and “design” of the slate way exceeded my expectations.
It’s a very fitting aesthetic piece to front the gates to our house.
Your service was exceptional and I can’t thank you enough for turning it around so quickly before Christmas.
It was with slight trepidation that I ordered the piece (internet phobia !) but I am delighted with the sign and with your help in choosing the right slate.

Hi, just received today my plaque for my 3 dogs. I was absolutely delighted & amazed at the quality . The picture you sent did not do it justice ! The craftsmanship is excellent. I was quoted 2 weeks but it came quicker.

Just to say a huge thankyou for all your help & kindness when
ordering and finished stone,received today,in memory of our beloved Alsation JORDAN..size,design & craftsmanship all wonderful. Only got his ashes back yesterday,when we are ready for our final goodbye will hopefully send a picture in situ..Many,many thanks again..am planning on ordering again soon as the plaques we had done years ago for our other Dawgies are falling to pieces..which yours certainly won’t!! Just to let you know the memorial stone for our beloved cat Paddy arrived as promised yesterday. We are absolutely delighted with it and was moved to tears to see his name, our sentiments and the paw marks engraved so beautifully on the slate.
It will take pride of place under the oak tree where Paddy is buried and will be a forever reminder of how much he was loved and is still so very much missed.
I had no doubt you would come through for us again, this being our 4th pet memorial from Rustic Stone so all our precious cats now have fitting tributes where they are resting peacefully.

We received Wellington’s memorial yesterday (and did get an e-mail
eventually) and I just wanted to drop you a note to say how utterly
beautiful it is.
It is really stunning and such great value for money when you compare
it to other memorials available.
Although it made me sob my heart out putting the stone in its resting
place, it is so beautiful that I know I will smile looking at it when
remembering Welly.

Thank you so much for our cat memorial stone. Dibbley was our much loved family cat for 15 years so we wanted to mark her being a part of our lives with something special – & this certainly is. We have placed the stone close to where she is buried & next to a little ‘pussy willow’ tree that we have planted in her honour.

Our sign has been much admired and we think it has just the right feel for our home – a friendly font, simple and clear. The slate was much thicker than we expected, and the engraving was deep, so this is very much a quality product made with care. We chose ‘invisible’ fixings which proved easy and have added to the neatness of the sign. Many thanks for exceeding our expectations and we will have no hesitation in recommending you.
