The online design tool is now pretty much fully functioning and relatively bug free. There are some issues with touch screen devices that I am hoping the developer can fix. We have high hopes that it will streamline the business and create extra revenue.

The tool now has a short instructional video in case anyone experiences difficulties using it. The interface is fairly natural and certainly as simple as we could make it, yet provide all the features that we wanted it to have.

We have some great ideas on additional features for the tool and will update progress as it happens.

Designing yourself is not for everyone, obviously. We still offer our old tried and tested manual mock up service if you would prefer to use that. We fully realise that a person may not feel emotionally strong enough to create a memorial for their loved one or pet themselves. Please simply contact us if you would like us to fully design for you.

We now also supply “But n Ben” house signs! We got an order from a customer in Perthshire for a slate sign for his But n Ben cottage in the Highlands. I had never heard the phrase before so I looked it up.

It means a two roomed house. But is the living room and Ben is the bedroom, Now supposedly more common as holiday cottages, the phrase is in decline, unfortunately. Interesting fact!

I have attached the mock up that I sent the customer:

But n Ben cottage sign

Below is the cottage that the sign will actually be fixed to. Thanks for sending it, Ray.

After several months deliberating on the worth of blogging we decided to give it a try on this site.

Having paid a specialist designer to design and then code a custom theme for WordPress, to closely resemble the rest of the site, we are up and running on two cylinders. Only two so far as there are still plugins to plug in and widgets to widge etc.

The Princess Royal unveiling one of our plaques

One of the main reasons for adding the blog was so that we could post new products a bit easier (you know, without editing the whole site’s navigation, adding to the sitemap etc, etc). Not only that but it creates a safe platform for our customers to ask questions, leave feedback and generally communicate with us should they want to.

It also means that we can keep anyone that is interested up to date with what we do. Please feel free to register and comment or even register and post should you wish!
